What is this event about?
In this two-day workshop, we provide a hands-on introduction to Embedded Rust using the asynchronous framework Embassy. Following a joint introduction, participants will work in teams to develop their own small embedded projects.

Who Can Participate?

  • Rust beginners with embedded development experience
  • Embedded development beginners with Rust experience.
  • Experienced Rust and embedded developers
  • Rust and Embassy experts interested in sharing knowledge and collaborating on projects

Basic knowledge of at least one of the two areas is recommended. General programming experience is required.

Hardware Information
Ten hardware kits will be provided for the workshop, with each kit shared by a team of two. This allows up to 20 participants to work with the provided hardware.

We will bring a variety of electronic components, such as sensors, actuators, and displays, for you to experiment with and explore. We encourage you to bring your own components as well! Have you already built exciting projects with Embassy, or do you have your own microcontrollers and development boards? Even better – we'd love for you to bring them along!

What to Bring

  • A notebook running a supported operating system.
  • An up-to-date Rust installation.
  • A development environment, such as VS Code, RustRover, or Zed.
  • A suitable USB data cable.
  • If available: your own microcontrollers, sensors, displays, or other accessories.
  • Optional: An initial idea for a small embedded project.

A setup guide and a test project will be sent out no later than one week before the event. These will include information on the required Rust targets, tools, drivers, and supported operating systems.
